Summer-Dawn's Weblog
Preface

The area of interest I chose to focus on is Asperger Syndrome. I became very interested in knowing more about AS when I met a client with this disorder about three months ago. When we were asked to choose a topic, I thought this would be a great time to discover more about something I had already been eager to know more about.

Before this project, the only thing that I really knew about Asperger Syndrome was that it is a disorder that falls within the Autistic spectrum.
Now, I know that AS is actually a developmental disorder, and the four main factors associated with AS include:
• Social interaction
• Communication
• Narrow Interests / Preoccupation's
• Repetitive routines / rituals, inflexibility.
Since AS is not as commonly discussed as autism, I was surprised to discover that AS is, in fact, more common. Also, AS is more common in males rather than females.

Although much research has been done to understand different aspects of Asperger Syndrome, it is necessary that we continue increasing our knowledge on the subject, which will ultimately allow for more successful methods used in therapy, daily life, etc.
