Genre 7
Summer: So, James, can you tell me a little about yourself? What kind of things do you enjoy?
James: (twirling a piece of his hair) Uh, I don’t know!
Summer: I heard you like to read…
James: Oh yeah and I like playing with my Nintendo.
Summer: Do you like watching television?
James: Not really
Summer: Well, your mom told me that you like watching the Powderpuff Girls…
James: It’s not Powderpuff, it’s Powerpuff Girls, and I do like that show but not many others.
Summer: James, how do you like school?
James: Boring!
Summer: Your mom tells me that she has been having trouble trying to get you to get ready for school in the mornings?
James: Well, that’s because she wants me to brush my teeth, and usually it is around five minutes to seven. I don’t brush my teeth at five minutes to seven; I brush them at two minutes to seven, not a minute before not a minute later!
Summer: So, you are telling me that you only will brush you teeth at 6:58?
James: Bingo!
Summer: Well, I understand that you have a certain time that you like to brush your teeth, but is there anything else that bothers you?
James: (responding in a very hostile manner while twirling his hair again) Yes, my brother, drives me crazy!
Summer: Why does your brother drive you crazy?
James: Because he follows me around, he goes in my room; he messes with my stuff!
Summer: Maybe, he likes to be around you because you’re his big brother.
James: I don’t like it. That’s why I hit him all the time.
Summer: But he’s a lot smaller than you. Aren’t you afraid you are going to hurt him?
James: I don’t care if I do or not. I don’t like him; I wish he would go away!
Summer: You don’t want anything to really happen to your brother, do you?
James: (still twirling his hair, appearing to be very frustrated at this time) No, I don’t guess so. I just want him to leave me alone.
(Sensing his frustration, I decided to talk about something more appealing)
Summer: So, James, tell me about your cards that you have in your hand.
(showing me the cards and naming each character on every card)
Summer: Oh, those look very interesting. May I hold them?
James: (drawing them to his chest and giving me a confused look) No, they are in a certain order; you would probably get them mixed up.
Summer: (sensing his lack of security, I decided not to pursue holding his cards)
(The rest of the interview consisted of discussing the characters on the cards.)

Peer Response
Voice- Summer & the client (I think Summer may be the clinician, not sure though).
Audience- I guess anyone who wants to read it
Say Back- The author is trying to get across the way this child behaves- that he works a specific schedule, that his attention span is short, that he likes things to go in a certain way....
Bless- I think you have done a good job with this peice because you have shown how a child with Aspbergers usually behaves, without coming out & saying "This is how he behaves". Good job.
Address- Can't think of anything really. Are you going to continue the interview with the card discussion?

Peer Review
Voice: Summer and James

Audience: I would thing that it could be for anyone.

Say Back: It seems that she is trying to express how people with Asperger's Syndrome behave by providing an example of one particular person with this syndrome.

Bless: I think that you have done a good job showing how one with Asperger's Syndrome acts. I think that, in providing this interview, you've demonstrated the behavior of this type of client in a unique way. It tells so much more than just listing the behaviors, as in a typical research paper. I also like the way you provided information about the client's body language in parenthesis. It adds to the whole effect.

Address: Overall, I think that you did an excellent job. However, instead of putting the word "me," you may want to provide a name or the word "clinician." Depending on who is reading this, he/she may not know who "me" is.

Peer Review
Voice: Summer and James (client)

Audience: Anyone or maybe just James and his parents.

Say Back: The author is conveying through the interview what children with AS are like.

Bless: I liked the intervie because it showed how children with AS are.

Address: The interview looks really good. Maybe not talk about his brother, that seems to make him mad.
